Empowering all young people and communities through an inclusive arts practice.

What I do

Looking for a Programme Lead to run creative workshops and/or to co-create a show, who has experience working with groups inclusive of all identities?

I design and deliver inclusive creative programmes and workshops for young people and wider communities. I create safe spaces promoting respect and trust, which empowers participants to play and explore themselves and the world around them. My expertise is in theatre-making and applied theatre, with a background and training in facilitating, performing, and directing theatre groups. I am passionate about accessibility and work to ensure my spaces are inclusive of all identities, with particular experience and knowledge in anti-racism, neurodiversity, mental health conditions, and LGBTQIA+ identities.

I am based in Aberdeen and am willing to travel.

About me

I decided to work in youth theatre following enjoyable and inspirational experiences whilst designing and delivering skills development programmes at Blueprint for All (a charity creating equal opportunities for all, regardless of race, ethnicity, or background). I loved facilitating workshops for young people and watching their creativity and confidence grow. It reminded me of the impact youth theatre had on me when growing up in Aberdeen; I was given a voice, a vision, and self-belief.

I believe this learning of how and when to take up space was instrumental in leading me to be the only person in the year at my state school to apply for Oxford University and get a place there studying Law with French Law. Studying this degree proved to me my love for communicating effectively with others and pursuing social justice, but I realised that my future lay outside the legal field. My passion lies in collaborating with and learning from different communities to create positive change

I aim to make my work inclusive, so that everyone of all identities has access to formative experiences that enable them to achieve their potential. I have worked hard to develop an effective practice that puts participants at the heart of everything I do and I regularly attend inclusivity and arts training to make my work even more exciting, innovative, and supportive for the communities I work with.
